Johnson County, Iowa – Finding a new job can be a juggling act for lower-income people with children. They can’t work without child care and they can’t pay for child care until they have a job. A new childcare funding source, called Bridge Care, will help families “bridge the gap” between applying for State Child Care Assistance (SCCA) and being approved to receive that funding.
Bridge Care is a sort of temporary ‘insurance policy’ for both child care providers and families that allows a child to attend childcare while the family awaits official notification of eligibility for SCCA. Financial support is available for up to 30 days for families who are expected to be awarded SCCA benefits for employment.
For more information or to apply for funding, contact Laurie Nash by phone (319) 688-5707 or email BridgeCareJC@gmail.com. You will need a completed Child Care Assistance Application and completed Employer’s Statement of Earnings to apply.
Bridge Care is a collaboration among the Unitarian Universalist Society of Iowa City, 4Cs Community Coordinated Child Care, Johnson County Empowerment/ECIA, and the Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County.
